Betty M. Johnson, MS, LBS
Family Therapy Training and Implementation Coordinator
Betty M. Johnson is the Family Therapy Training and Implementation Coordinator with the Youth and Family Training Institute (YFTI). She brings more than five years of behavioral health experience and a background in family-based clinical practice to her work supporting the training and implementation of family therapy practices.
A native Pittsburgher and two-time alumna of the University of Pittsburgh — Hail to Pitt — Betty holds both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Applied Developmental Psychology, with her master’s concentration in Infant Mental Health. She has held an active Behavior Specialist License since 2024 and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Health Administration. Her clinical experience working with children, caregivers, and families has provided her with a strong understanding of child and family development, behavioral health systems, and the importance of relationship-centered practice. Betty intends to pursue a doctorate in clinical and developmental psychology. She is passionate about bridging the gap between training and practice by creating learning experiences that are engaging, practical, and responsive to the needs of the behavioral health workforce.
Betty is committed to strengthening professional capacity and supporting systems that promote meaningful outcomes for children, youth, and families. An educator at heart, she believes in the capacity of families and professionals to learn, grow, and create meaningful change. Outside of her professional work, Betty can often be found nose-deep in a book, binge-watching her favorite shows, traveling, or spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys giving back through volunteer and service opportunities, values meaningful connections, and is passionate about contributing to the communities she is a part of.
